Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
These are the core personal care services. If your loved one needs help with any of these, you may qualify.
Bathing & Hygiene
Help with bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene
Dressing & Grooming
Assistance with dressing and daily grooming routines
Eating & Feeding
Help with meals and eating assistance
Mobility Assistance
Moving around the home safely and comfortably
Transferring
Moving from bed to chair and other positions safely
Toileting Care
Personal care and incontinence assistance
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)
If your loved one qualifies, you may also be paid for these additional support tasks.
Meal Preparation
Cooking, serving, and meal cleanup
Laundry
Washing, drying, and folding clothes
Light Housekeeping
Keeping the home clean and safe
Medication Setup
Organizing and administering medications
Grocery Shopping
Food and medical supply shopping
Complex Care Needs
Complex care refers to conditions requiring intervention with special techniques and/or knowledge. If your loved one has a diagnosis or condition that requires any of the following, you may still qualify — and Novian Care will help you navigate the additional steps.

Eating & Feeding
Assisted feeding for individuals who cannot self-feed due to a medical condition
Catheter & Leg Bag Care
Management and maintenance of catheters or leg drainage bags
Colostomy Care
Care and maintenance of colostomy appliances and sites
Bowel Program
Structured bowel management and assistance as directed by a healthcare professional
Suctioning
Oral or airway suctioning performed per healthcare professional instructions
Specialized Skin Care
Treatment of skin conditions requiring clinical protocols and specific techniques
Range of Motion Exercises
Guided therapeutic exercises to maintain joint mobility and prevent stiffness
Peritoneal Dialysis
Assistance with peritoneal dialysis procedures performed at home
Wound Care
Dressing changes and wound management following healthcare professional instructions
Respiratory Treatment
Assistance with breathing treatments and respiratory equipment
Ventilator Care
Support and monitoring for individuals using home ventilators
Injections
Administration of prescribed injections as directed by a healthcare professional

Doctor's Authorization Required
Before Medicaid can approve home help services, a physician must certify your loved one's medical need for personal care assistance. This is a required step — but we make it easy.
